I'm pretty sure that the 'new casters' that you saw in those videos would never dream of doing a tournament stlye cast on the beach.
As you say it would destroy a bait and therefore be useless.
However most of the better boys would be more than capable of putting a baited trace out towards the 200yrd mark with bait intact.
As you say Dannys cast is a tounament cast and therefore nothing like a fishing cast
