Neil, and others...

This is something that is more akin to racquet sports or golf, but...

In recent months with my setup of Syncro and Benfield abu 5500, i adjusted my grip slightly and found the balance point directly under my right hand (reel low).
I'm sure this more balanced "feel" has accounted for smoother casting.

As the right hand is a fulcrum point around which the rod moves, when i get that all important light feel to the rod i am assuming the balance aids "Swing Weight".

Neil: You help with design of rods. When you test prototypes is anything like this accounted for, and if so, are you building the balance point around a particular reel weight too ?

My rod only started to balance in this way with the addition of "mikes" sideplate, and that adds considerable weight, yet aids the balance.
